In the next few weeks I will be making sporadic post about Jonas’ story, our youngest. We’re very fortunate and blessed to have him in our lives because we almost didn’t. I won’t post all the parts in a row nor do I know exactly how many parts the story will contain. That will mostly depend on you as the reader and your interest in Jonas’ Journey. I hope you enjoy the heart dump.

My wife and I sat down for the discussion about kid number two. We came to the conclusion that we were ready, but wanted to wait until the following month to start trying. If we dived in right away we would have a December baby. You see I had already vowed to never have December babies because I was fully aware they would receive the Christmas shaft. I could just picture their friends saying:
“Here’s your birthday present… oh and it was kind of expensive so it’s a birthday-slash-Christmas gift.”
Kind of expensive my boot. You spent two more dollars on it so you could use that line. I used to pull that on my best friend’s Christmas-slash-birthday gift all the time (sorry Reagan).
Anyways, I had already unintentionally broken the vow with child number one, Elijah who was born on December 14th. Our anniversary also happens to land on January 2nd , and let’s not forget New Years Eve on top of the previously mentioned Christmas. My bank statements were showing quite a few withdrawals for the month of December. I didn’t need to add more. We would wait, any month after March would be fine.
My wife was late. Who knows how late because it’s not as if she charts it, but she was sure she was past due and that she needed to take a test. I didn’t think anything of it because Morgan had taken 4 tests since our last son had been born less than a year and a half ago. It seems like any time she had bad gas she wanted to take a test. At this point I had given up on trying to talk her out of her strange peeing on a stick obsession and just sit back and weather her emotional ride through the 3 minutes of anticipation for one line or two. We had sort of been careful after all. I had nothing to worry about…
